This year we bring you just one word: Growth.

In 2011 we promise to grow as experts. We promise to push our clients to grow beyond their comforts. Phoenix will grow as a design community. The industry will see Keane grow to achieve new heights.

Keane Professional Development Day 2010

Last Thursday, we turned off our cell phones and took a break from our computers to participate in an offsite Professional Development Day at the Aloft Hotel. It was a day of presentations, team building exercises, and to sum it up best: learning.
We’re constantly striving to learn new things that will benefit not only our clients, but our personal & professional goals as well.

Each team member’s presentation brought new insight and understanding into our creative process, relationship with clients, and positions within Keane. We’re looking forward to carrying on this knowledge and bringing it to the table in a big way for 2011. Come along, won’t you?

Real Thought Leadership

P1050997

"Over time, true thought leadership positions us as experts in our field and creates the opportunity for some of our thinking to trigger in the client the idea that perhaps his performance in a certain area could be improved.

The role of our thought leadership is to educate, not to persuade."

- Blair Enns, 'The Win Without Pitching Manifesto'

Welcome, Austin Baker! Pt. 1

Keane would like to introduce you to our newest full-time employee, Austin Baker! Austin’s been hired on full-time as our Creative Director/Resident Badass.

Mr. Baker’s been with us for several months, but we’ve only recently made it official -- “It’s Complicated” has turned to “In a Relationship”.

In true 2001 Myspace fashion, we felt it best not to hog Austin all to ourselves, and to share his awesome with you via classic internet survey questions.

  1. What is your favorite ice cream? Sweet Cream; it's like a blank slate.
  2. Like someone? I like lots of people. I am a person who likes people and likes to be liked. I like LIKE my wife and like my kids (mostly).
  3. Do they know? They have some idea, though I like to keep a little bit of mystery in the relationship.
  4. Last time you cut your hair? I cut my own hair every couple of months. I trimmed it a bit a couple of weeks ago. Most people are kind enough to pretend that they don't notice, but I notice that they notice.
  5. What was the last text message you received? "How does 8pm work for you guys on Friday night?". Again...mystery.
  6. How many states have you lived in? Three: Arizona, California, and Western Cape. Technically the Western Cape is a Province, but I don't think we are talking about technicalities.
  7. What is your favorite animal? Wallaby -- its like a kangaroo that can't fight back.
  8. What do you think of clothing for pets? I think there is a special hell for people that clothe their pets. Especially people that say, "Oh, well its cold outside and my animal is not designed for this kind of weather". It's Arizona for goodness sakes, people. Our winter nights are like most people's summer days. If an animal can't survive an AZ night, then they shouldn't be allowed to survive any night. I have no opinion.
  9. Peanut Butter: crunchy or creamy? Creamy. If I want crunchy, I'll eat a peanut.
  10. What color is your bra or boxers? I don't wear boxers. I have some bikini briefs. They are blue and black.
  11. Do you look at yourself when you pass by reflective surfaces? Absolutely I do. I also adjust my posture and wonder if one of the ladies inside will run out and profess how she thought that I looked pretty cool, and maybe we could hang out. I would be flattered and tell her that I am happily married. She would be a bit disappointed, but whatever.
  12. What are you wearing right now? Dress shoes, black socks, jeans, some swag shirt from SXSW and a button up over that... and a star sticker on my left shirt pocket.
  13. Do you have any tattoos? Nope. Used to think about getting one or some, but never did. At this point I have realized that all of the tattoos I thought would be permanently cool I could care less about today. This keeps me aware that there is likely nothing that should ever be tattooed on my body... except maybe my own name.
  14. Which is better, thick crust or thin? On a pizza, thick crust. On a sandwich, thin crust.
  15. Who do you think should play you in a movie about yourself? I was told a whole bunch of times that I reminded them of Michael Cera. I would like to think that Michael Cera reminds them of me. But "George Michael" Michael Cera, not the current samey one.

Austin is not only a fun guy, but an incredibly valuable asset to the Keane Team.  With 10+ years in the graphic design & creative field, Austin combines exceptional creativity with outstanding strategic mindset. In his short time here, he has pushed projects to newer, fresher levels, satisfying both clients & team members alike. We're happy to have you here, Austin!

A Keane Thanksgiving Poem

Us here at Keane are working away,

Waiting for Thanksgiving, a feast-of-a-day.

We all have much to be thankful for,

A year of sheer blessings; gratitude galore.

CC is thankful for great clients & Keane,

This first year with her husband has been a dream.

Boris is thankful for the hottest of teas,

Structured water and crop circles --- he’s easy to please.

Maloney is thankful for haptic feedback & friends,

Good samaritans & writing with black Sharpie pens.

Austin is thankful for a great job & sandals,

His wife, his kids, & his manly love handles.

Allison is thankful for cupcakes & pie,

And puppies, and picnics, and humor that’s dry.

Russ Perry is thankful for double rainbows & fam,

Though his fantasy football team suggests that he don’t-give-a-damn.

May your holiday be stellar as you devour your fowls,

Just know that we’re thankful for you all, our pals.
